Bangladeshi workers will have to afford only Tk 20,000 for migrating to Bahrain under state arrangements, says the expatriates’ welfare minister.
“As the employers in Bahrain will bear the return ticket fare of the workers, the migration cost will come down considerably,” Khandker Mosharraf Hossain told reporters at his ministry on Monday.
He said, “Currently, the workers have to spend Tk 2-3 lakh for migrating to Bahrain through middlemen. So, we have decided to send workers under government-to-government arrangements.”
The minister was speaking to the journalists after a discussion with a visiting three-member Bahrain delegation.
“We think if the workers can go to Bahrain through this process, we will be able to keep record to ensure their overall welfare,” he mentioned.
Both countries have agreed to follow the recruitment process for Bangladeshi workers, said Ausamah Bin Abdulla Al-Absi, chief of the delegation.
